Welcome to America Going Blue.org, where we are unapologetically pro Police Officers. Let us take a moment to introduce ourselves. Formally, we are a federally recognized 501(c)(3) whose mission is to support Law Enforcement Officers. Informally, we are a group of private citizens who have come to a common realization that the men and women who serve have come under fire. We have chosen to step out of the shadows and be a positive voice, celebrating the good work being done on a daily basis by Police Forces in our communities.
We wanted to stem the tide of negative media by highlighting those quiet, unsung heroes all across this beautiful country. They get up every day and leave the safety of their homes, strapping on body armor and duty belts laden with all the tools of the trade. They know that they are watched and judged by people who don’t understand the laws they enforce or the burdens they carry. They know their split second decisions might someday be taken apart piece by piece, in slow motion, zoomed in on a high definition screen…and yet they go out and do it day after day. For whatever calling or inner makeup that draws them to be a Law Enforcement Officer, they are the ‘Sheepdogs’ who protect our cities and guard against the wolves.
On July 7th, 2014, two days after the line of duty death of an IMPD Officer, the “Indy Going Blue for IMPD” Facebook page was started. It began by asking citizens to place a blue light on their front porches to SHOW support for Law Enforcement Officers. That grass roots effort has grown into much more than ever expected, but anything we do where God is involved tends to grow far beyond ourselves.
This web site and the America Going Blue and Indiana Going Blue Facebook pages have all spun out of the effort to let our law enforcement officers know that what they do is valued by their community; their welfare, and that of our communities, are woven together. And so we push on through fund raising efforts to see that they are properly equipped, we research who we vote for to see that our city's best interests are preserved, and we pray for their safety so that no one else is lost in the battle to keep our streets safe. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you are an officer - Thank You for your service.
